What Is Moray Inca Products
Moray Inca Products started as a new lifestyle for our family, started to improve our health, and help us return to our roots that had been lost over the years. Co-owners Manuel and Brayan felt that the products they made could benefit other people that are looking for healthy alternatives. Moray Inca Products specializes in artisanal sourdough bread, alfajores (cookies with dulce de leche filling), and Chicha (a non-acholic drink that is obtained by natural fermentation from sprouted corn). All these products are made with ancient grains like quinoa, amaranth, blue, and purple corn.
Our Story
Manuel’s story begins around 2013 when he was diagnosed with a high level of cholesterol and his weight was 195Lb. At that moment Manuel changed his lifestyle, he was able to reduce his weight to 145Lb. In one year with hard work by running between 2 to 3 miles to start the year and 10 miles per week by the end of the year. Manuel ate healthier and exercised, with his diet he accomplished his goal. A year later his test result was positive, Manuel’s cholesterol had reduced but in that same year my wife was diagnosed pre-diabetic and a couple of months later had high levels of cholesterol as well. She started to take medicine for one year and eight months, soon after his family effectively changed their lifestyle.
Manuel started to read about alternative medicine of which he is still learning to this day. Our family started to consume Quinoa, Amaranth, Purple Corn, Maca powder, Cacao powder, Sesame seeds, Chia seeds, and Flax seeds along with the different types of nuts, vegetables, and fruit. They made sure the food they consume had a low Glycemic Index and most importantly that they needed to be organic. For the most part, Manuel had eaten most of these products throughout his life, but the eating habits changed when our family moved to the USA from Peru. Manuel believes our body is designed to cure itself when we try to change our diets and lifestyle overall. Manuel was able to help his wife reverse her Pre-diabetes and Cholesterol with natural and organic alternatives which can attest to the results because they’ve consumed this food for several years.
The importance of restoring ancient methods of eating that are simple and natural like how the Incas and Egyptians could help humans feel better. Manuel regains his cultural habits by making sourdough bread with a variety of organic flours, quinoa alfajores, amaranth alfajores, blue corn alfajores, and fermented drinks like chicha. Throughout the books read during his research, Manuel learned the importance of having a healthy gut and we can achieve this by having a healthy diet. The toxins, stress, poor diet, and certain medication alter our gut valance causing health problems that could lead to having a lower immune system. Fermented foods are very important to us. By introducing beneficial bacteria into our bodies, we are restoring the balance of intestinal flora.
Our Business Journey
Now that Manuel and Brayan had the idea and tested each product made, they need to bring everything to the community. They found a program that helps ideas for small businesses come to life. E-For All Longmont allowed them to realize their dream. Harris Rollinger (Executive Director), Kelly Musick (Program Manager), gave them the confidence and security to participate in the program. The extensive 3-month accelerator gave Manuel and Brayan a unique experience, which was full of important lessons and likewise personal growth by sharing classes and getting to know the mentors, teachers, and other participants who are kind people and wonderful partners.
Participating in the program provided them a fundamental block any small business needs to grow and succeed. In the end, Manuel and Brayan came among the top 3 entrepreneurs to be awarded a prize thanks to the great team they formed with their mentors. Clif Harald and Doug Cunnington. With their experiences and knowledge, they guided Manuel and Brayan on how to make correct decisions. E-For all Longmont is a great opportunity for entrepreneurs, dreamers, and anyone with an idea. Manuel and Brayan start a very long road and above all have faith they believe in their product, and forget the obstacles, difficulties, and keep their mind on the end goal. But that is the first step that E-For All Longmont offered them to achieve success. The next step is to grow the brand and have the community know the delicious food Moray Inca Products can provide.
